Back in those halcyon days when airlines competed with services rather than price. The business climate was such that the insignia of other carriers could be freely used in an airline commercial. The bureaucrats in Washington fixed the prices, and the carriers had to work around that.
But all that changed when the Fire Nation attacked, er, I mean, President Carter signed Deregulation into law in October of 1978.
