DirectAir is a carrier that, for the most part, exists only on paper. It has no aircraft of its’ own; instead it outsources aviation operations to charter airlines such as Xtra Airways (pictured).

One notable subcontractor for DirectAir has been Virgin America, who leased out some of their Airbuses and the crews to operate them in 2008.

DirectAir started out as Myrtle Beach DirectAir in 2006, when they opened with service linking MYR with Newark, Niagara Falls, and Plattsburgh.
